Itโs been four years since the former owners of the Orient Restaurant retired and closed what had been a landmark of sorts for Tauntonโs downtown district. Yung Fat Ling, who was 73 at the time, and his wife Li Xia, then 61, had run the Chinese restaurant at 14 Winthrop St. since buying it in 1988. The business, however, dated back to 1935, and Yung Fat had worked there since 1972.
